Mid Coast Pair Receive Prestigious Maine Nursing Awards

Mid Coast Hospital nurses Barbara McCue, RN and Andrea MacMaster, RN have received awards from the Maine American Nurses Association (ANA-Maine). The nurses were honored at the ANA-Maine 2013 Annual Meeting held at the Portland Harbor Hotel on October 4. Attended by many nurses from across the state, this year’s event featured a special recognition service for each of the award recipients.

Nominations for the awards were solicited statewide beginning in early August. Once received, the nominations were subject to a blind review process. Out-of-state, ANA colleagues identified McCue and MacMaster as the award winners by.

How Becky Sawtelle is Doing Eight Months After Weight Loss Surgery

It's hard to believe that is was the beginning of the year when I first wrote about Becky Sawtelle's decision to have weight loss surgery. We haven't had an update on the blog since the end of May, but that doesn't mean she hasn't made progress — she's made incredible progress. She and her little dog Muffin also moved to Florida, so she's been dealing with a lot of changes. And, I think she spends a lot of time at the gym getting in shape.

Cranky. That's how I've felt this past week. My immune system was working overtime trying to fight off a cold. The deadlines for a couple of freelance writing projects had arrived. I made a commitment to volunteer at a wonderful and worthy weekend event when I really needed to be working at the computer. I had homework.
