America's Favorite LivingSocial Deals

America's Favorite LivingSocial Deals

Have you ever wondered if anyone actually purchased that LivingSocial deal for botox or pole dancing that you remember reading in bed while you were checking your emails before you got in the shower? They had 24 hours to make the choice and according to this week's release by Living Social of their 2nd Quarter report [April - June], it is certain that these deals were and are being scooped up by the thousands! I am a huge fan of a great deal as most of you already know and think that paying retail for anything, especially for food, fitness & entertainment is completely unnecessary.

I found the 2nd Quarter information quite interesting because it’s interesting to see what deals Americans’ are obsessed with, as well as the trends in the marketplace.

Maine Breweries: Find Your Favorite Maine Brewery Using Social Media

Maine Breweries: Find Your Favorite Maine Brewery Using Social Media

I thought it would be fun to do some online exploring to see what Maine breweries are using social media & what they are doing with it. Mainers are always looking for something different & fun to do and often, we forget that we have a plethora of options right at our fingertips, year round! One great thing about beer is that it can be enjoyed all year, every season, but may be enjoyed a little bit more during those hot summer months. So get ready to ‘like’ and ‘follow’ your favorite Maine breweries & keep your eye out in your favorite store for a one of a kind, Maine beer. There are many options, so get chugging!  Also! Some of the breweries offer tours, but you have to act quick because ’tis the beer season!

Ice Cream vs. Gelato vs. Frozen Custard - What's the Difference?

Ice Cream vs. Gelato vs. Frozen Custard - What's the Difference?

Over the past couple of years, it seems as if gelato and frozen custard shops are have been opening up here and there and I have found myself asking “What is the difference between the three? They are all pretty much ice cream right?” Well not quite… There are big differences between them all and I thought I would dig in [no pun intended ] and try to distinguish what is what while you try to make the best choices for yourself this summer…

Downtown Brunswick Association helps carry the message, 'It's All here... All Year'
By Patrick Gabrion, Times Record Business Editor

BRUNSWICK — Downtown Brunswick. It’s lively, diverse and undergoing changes. One of the many organizations deeply involved and at the forefront in keeping the town pointed in the right direction is the Brunswick Downtown Association.

The Times Record recently chatted with Stephanie Slocum, the BDA’s executive director, to talk about the group’s mission, the town’s new branding campaign, the need for more retail locations, and what makes Brunswick’s downtown so special.

Q. Stephanie, first of all, give us a little background about yourself, such as where you grew up, went to school, etc. You told me that you have lived in many different parts of the country, but you are back in the Mid-coast region. Comparisons, thoughts?

A. I am proud to be a multi-generation Maine native, born in Bath and raised in Boothbay Harbor.

Starring Emmy Award winner Peter Scolari as Harold Hill, Meredith Willson’s all-American favorite follows the fast-talking traveling salesman as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a town band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef!
