Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Announces Field for the Zany 2011 World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials

Rockland, Maine–  Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show organizers are pleased to announce that six finalists have been chosen from the large group of canines who applied to compete in this year’s World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials. The trials will take place on Sunday, August 14, during the ninth annual Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show, which runs August 12-14, 2011, at Harbor Park in Rockland.

A perennial crowd favorite (who doesn’t love watching people act silly with their pets?), the World Championship Boatyard Dog Trials is a zany head-to-paw “competition” among the cream of the canine corps. The field of competing dogs is pre-selected, and organizers would like to emphasize that due to liability reasons only those dogs will be allowed onto show grounds.

Downtown Brunswick Association helps carry the message, 'It's All here... All Year'
By Patrick Gabrion, Times Record Business Editor

BRUNSWICK — Downtown Brunswick. It’s lively, diverse and undergoing changes. One of the many organizations deeply involved and at the forefront in keeping the town pointed in the right direction is the Brunswick Downtown Association.

The Times Record recently chatted with Stephanie Slocum, the BDA’s executive director, to talk about the group’s mission, the town’s new branding campaign, the need for more retail locations, and what makes Brunswick’s downtown so special.

Q. Stephanie, first of all, give us a little background about yourself, such as where you grew up, went to school, etc. You told me that you have lived in many different parts of the country, but you are back in the Mid-coast region. Comparisons, thoughts?

A. I am proud to be a multi-generation Maine native, born in Bath and raised in Boothbay Harbor.

The Music Man Starring Peter Scolari to Open at the Ogunquit Playhouse July 20th!

There’s Trouble in River City… Yes, the critically acclaimed Broadway classic, The Music Man marches onto the Ogunquit Playhouse stage July 20 through August 20. Starring Emmy Award winner Peter Scolari as Harold Hill, Meredith Willson’s all-American favorite follows the fast-talking traveling salesman as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a town band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef!
